Meliá Phuket Mai Khao, a 30-suite and 70-villa resort on eight acres of Phuket’s northwestern coastline overlooking the sky-blue Andaman Sea is slated to open in December.

Fronting Phuket’s longest stretch of sand, the resort on Mai Khao Beach is close to an array of attractions such as Sirinat National Park, Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation, and Wat Phra Thong temple. Phuket International Airport is a 15-minute drive.

Launched by Meliá Hotels International and owned by Thailand’s leading residential real estate developer Phuket Villa Group, the five-star resort is part of a roll-out of the Meliá brand in key destinations across Thailand including Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and Bangkok.

The new resort’s saltwater swimming pools, private villa pools, a reflection pond with sunken seating areas, water gardens, vertical falls and irrigation mist evoke a restorative atmosphere. The overarching design pays tribute to contemporary aesthetics and traditional Thai touches.

The contemporary, light-filled and spacious Mediterranean-inspired accommodations comprise 30 one-bedroom suites and 70 one-bedroom villas that each cater for up to two adults and two children. All feature outdoor bathtubs, open-air showers and vast outdoor terraces.

The 78sqm suites are complemented by cabanas and the 85sqm one-bedroom villas have private plunge pools. Fifteen “wellness villas” feature an open-air Vitamin C shower, daily massage, ultrasonic essential oil diffuser, GermGuardian air purifier, Tempur-Pedic pillows, fit ball and yoga mat.

Meliá Phuket Mai Khao will explore a diverse culinary landscape from four outlets. Near the beach pool with its cabanas and sun lounges, chic Gaia Beach Club is “the place to be”. Drawing on Meliá’s Spanish origins, Gaia celebrates Spain’s famed gastronomy by serving Mediterranean and fusion cuisine from an open kitchen and an imaginative cocktail selection from a long bar.

Elegant all-day dining restaurant SASA specialises in Southeast Asian cuisine. A warm and intimate setting adorned with timber finishes, SASA offers casual fine dining by night. Elyxr Café serves freshly squeezed juices and locally brewed liquors.

Shaded by a broad spectrum of native plants, the resort’s design deploys a neutral palette of colours as a complement to Mai Khao’s sandy shore. Its high ceilings, floor-to-roof glass panels and decorative metal screens take advantage of the natural surrounds and abundance of sunshine.

JW Marriott Chalong Bay

The main characteristics of this resort is strongly influenced by its geography. Most guest rooms are specifically designed to afford views of the natural mangrove forest and the Andaman Sea. Another key element of the design is inspired by Phuket’s rich history, culture, as well as vernacular and Sino-Portuguese architecture. “Goh kha ki”, the Sino-Portuguese style colonnade, is integrated into the details and design of the project’s architecture, whilst other elements of the Sino-Portuguese style are applied in the design of screen patterns and the facade.

The JW lobbies are another prominent feature and architectural concept. These are enhanced as a reflected sculptural cubic mass. When viewed from afar, the two main lantern lobbies, and several lantern pavilions, appear to float on a reflective pool, forming a unique feature to the resort. The lobby areas also feature a unique interplay of a crystal-like glass facade and an internal-external Chinese-patterned screen covering. The strong architectural grammar of this patterned screening becomes more striking at night when the lobby areas are lit up to illuminate the surroundings.

The simple form illustrates the congruent blending of architecture with nature and reflective water, integrated visually through the creation of an infinity pool-style water feature. This gives the architectural impression that the buildings are floating on water through the sea in refined elegance.

JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok with Exceptional Style and Luxury

JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok with Exceptional Style and Luxury

Bangkok (Thailand) – December 12, 2019 (travelindex.com) – Leisure and business travelers visiting the Thai capital will find exceptional style and modern luxury at JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok following an extensive top-to-bottom renovation earlier this year. The transformative refurbishment raises the standard of accommodation in the city, offering a more exclusive stay in Bangkok. The makeover includes expansive updates to all 441 guestrooms and suites, refreshed meeting spaces, a reimagined lobby, and enhancements to some of its food and beverage outlets.

The experience begins the moment the travelers arrive. The spacious lobby has been enriched with stylish design details and unique objects d’art that emulate the rich culture of its location. Dark and light wood tones are accentuated by pops of color from the orange leather soft seating, vibrant floral arrangements, and the Thai-inspired geometric design of the plush carpet underfoot. Multiple intimate spaces allow for a quiet place to work or unwind with a favorite beverage. The new room design also seamlessly balances traditional Thai elements and modern architectural ideologies. Some unique features in the rooms provide intriguing insights into Thai history and culture.

Four of the hotel’s food and beverage outlets have also received a makeover. The interiors at the popular JW Café, have been enhanced with an inspired industrial look, from rustic exposed finishes and wooden flooring to bespoke lighting fixtures. Next door Bangkok’s favorite bakery, BBCO invites with comfortable settees and updated display cases, and its own a la carte menu. BBCO Terrace offers a new unique outdoor dining experience that makes it’s the perfect place for a coffee or a meal with friends and family.

The award-winning Man Ho Chinese restaurant re-opened with a new look and menu that offers guests modern interpretations of Chinese cuisine. The elegant interiors are a refined juxtaposition of Oriental artifacts, accentuated with contrasting materials, to reflect subtle luxury and depth.  Finally, Tsu Japanese restaurant boasts large windows that allow natural light into the open concept plan dressed in bright colors. The dining area has a mix of banquettes and tables with the aim of creating intimate spaces and also allowing the flexibility to seat large groups. Elevated seating allows diners to watch the chefs behind the sushi counter create their tempting bites.
